My mom's college


My mom was nostalgic about her College and felt very sorry that she could not be present at the College s Golden Jubillee Celebration in 1985 inspite of receiving an invitation from the then Principal Mrs Marbaniang . MA was indisposed that time and was not in a position to undertake the journey to Shillong from Doon . However she wrote a lovely piece of literature relating to her College which was sent by post and was read out at the function one of the days during the College Golden Jubillee Celebrations.

It is a SPECIAL DAY for me AND my family today as it is my dear mother Smt NIBHA DATTA's BIRTHDAY TODAY. She would have been 97 today. She was the elder of the two daughters of Dr PN SEN  - the retired Asstt Civil Surgeon of Shillong who thereafter served as the first Medical Officer of the Ramakrishna Mission Charitable Hospital in Laitumkrah Shillong for about twenty years till early eighties while his younger daughter Km Bina Sen was a popular Superintendent at the Office of the AG Shillong.who I greatly Miss too. Let me at this point also remember Srimat Swami BHAVYANAND JI - the Doctor Swamiji AND Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission. Mrs Monica Talukdar - the acclaimed Artist in her own right trained among others by the legendary Sh Benode Behari Mukherjee who was also the legendary Shri Satyajit Ray's Art teacher. HER WORK has been exhibited in many galleries In the country and abroad.
